DAY 29: Add Variety In Your Plan

workout varietyI have to admit, I get bored quickly. If I’m doing the same thing over and over again without a little variety, it gets old, and I lose interest. And, soon, I quit. I realize that about myself and use that knowledge to for my advantage. When it comes to health, whether it’s the way I eat or workout, I have to add variety in my routine to maintain the interest and engagement.

I read the other day about a guy who eats the same thing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week. He’s a fitness guru and has maintained his fitness level for years. My first reaction to the article was, I couldn’t do that. I wouldn’t make it through the first week. When it comes to my exercise regimen, it’s the same thing. I need to mix my routine up daily, weekly, and monthly to maintain interest. That’s one of the reasons I work with a trainer as he provides me with variations of routines helping me create an engaging mix. I also don’t go to the gym at the same time every day. I mix it up a bit. Some days I’m doing early mornings, others I’m working out over lunch, and on rare occasions, I’ll exercise in the afternoon. It’s calendared but with variety in mind.

When you think about health, I want you to consider variety. Be creative, calendar, and work form a list of choices to create greater engagement. Make it fun and exciting and not boring and dull. Your health is too important.
