DAY 28: Get Some Sleep

sleepmoreYou’ve got a lot to do, so does everyone else. There are many distractions throughout the day clamoring for our attention. We’re all busy. You don’t accomplish more by doing more; you achieve more with intentionality and time stewardship. You can only do so much, choose the things you must do and that just you can do and focus your attention there. Create boundaries to protect what matters most. One essential boundary for good health is good rest and sleep.

I’m not going to try and convince you with research as to why you need sleep. Harvard Health does an excellent job as does the University of Minnesota. You can read for yourself. Good, sound sleep is essential for good mental and physical health.

If you’re trying to lose weight, you need to gain sleep. Sleep affects the metabolism positively. If you’re going to exert yourself in physical exercise, your body requires rest to be at its physical optimum. There are many devices and apps which will assist in grading your sleep. But one thing is for sure, you need more than six hours and less than eight hours of sleep each day. Schedule it; it just doesn’t happen.

Make it a point to get enough sleep each night. It’s a key to health.
