DAY 12: Pray – It Is A Spiritual Discipline

prayer-is-the-keyFor we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Ephesians 6:12-13 ESV

The battle isn’t physical; it is spiritual. That’s something I must always remember. When I think the journey to a healthier lifestyle is about what I do in my strength, I’m only fooling myself and setting myself up for failure. To walk the path to a healthier you is a spiritual discipline. You’ll find encouragement in the Scriptures and strength through prayer. Pray daily; pray throughout the day.

Here’s what you pray for:

  • For strength to make good choices throughout the day concerning exercise and diet.
  • For discernment to know the difference between good and best choices.
  • For knowledge to apply sound principles for life.
  • For perseverance to go the long haul with a healthier lifestyle.
  • For grace to forgive myself when I don’t live up to the expectations that I set for myself.
  • For humility not to judge others who don’t take a similar journey to a healthier self.
  • For wisdom to steward well this life and this body for God’s glory.
