It’s a Great View

Great_Balloon_Race,_2007I get it. I have a unique vantage point. I get to observe things others don’t always get to see. These are God’s revealed glimpses of kindness – expressions of grace – that not everyone has the opportunity to view. I’ve really been reminded of this over the past several weeks. Some are big and some small. Nonetheless they’re wonderful stories of consideration.

I’ve been the recipient of a couple of these. Most are moments I’ve observed in the lives and circumstance of others. You must know it’s an incredible view noticing the charity of Christ followers in a variety of settings. Some have been intentional organized movements while others have appeared as simple momentary actions flowing out of awareness, kindness and compassion. I think this is the way it’s supposed to be – Christ followers living out faith obediently sensitive to the indwelling Holy Spirit’s prompting and leading.

The verse that keeps rolling around in my mind is found in 1 Timothy. It’s Paul’s stirring challenge to Timothy, “…but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” It’s more about being an example than trying to be an example. There’s a difference.

To all those exampling faith by being – thank you. You’re an incredible encouragement especially to the one you’re blessing by simple obedience to the Spirit’s moving.
