I didn’t title it, but this is a pretty sweet song – good truth and wisdom. God’s invitation is to come as you are. Christ changes the man’s heart – his soul, his life, his everything. It’s amazing to think that this offer of new life and grace extended freely didn’t require a successful pass through a prescribed obstacle course – like a competitor on American Ninja Warrior. The invitation is to come – to turn, follow, embrace, trust, believe, surrender, and rest. Jesus’ mission and work on the cross is perhaps one of the most culturally misunderstood narratives today. I can’t earn His love; He already loves me. Jesus died for our failures; He is our righteousness. Consider 1 Corinthians 1:30, “He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom and our righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” How I’m thankful He extended an invite to me many years ago to come as you are and that I took Him up on the offer.
