How a President Thinks or Doesn’t

Some time ago, I published at least one post discussing post-modern leaders and their mindsets. Specifically, I remember a post that referenced the yet-to-be-elected Barack Obama as possibly our first post-modern thinking president, if he were to actually be elected. That probability became reality nearly two years ago.

A friend of mine sent me an article from Forbes Magazine. It is from the September 27, 2010 issue. I missed it for some reason, but glad that Doug didn’t. The article is by Dinesh D’Souza and titled, “How He Thinks: The Root of Obama’s Big Problem with Business.” I found the piece fascinating as D’Souza detailed the depth of Obama’s dream – the one his father had. The ardent anti-colonialist, Obama’s father greatly influenced his son’s thinking. According to the author, “Anti-colonialism is the doctrine that rich countries of the West got rich by invading, occupying and looting poor countries of Asia, Africa, and South America.” He goes on to state, “The anti-colonialist believes that since the rich have prospered at the expense of others, their wealth doesn’t really belong to them; therefore whatever can be extracted from them is automatically just.” D’Souza describes Obama as an anti-colonialist viewing America as the neocolonial power taking advantage of foreign lands and people. It’s as if our President see’s his dream as redistributing America’s wealth among the nations. Obama’s comments and actions post gulf oil spill, his support of coastal drilling off Brazil, and other unsound monetary policies support D’Souza’s conclusions. It’s a sober thought – a leader seeking to disassemble a nation rather than work to rebuild it.

Perhaps one of the most frightening comments noted in the article noted a statement made by NASA Chief Charles Bolden, “The primary mission of America’s space agency would be to improve relations with the Muslim world.” President Obama according to Bolden stated, “ He wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science and math and engineering.” How incredulous is this directive? In recent speeches, Obama has overstated the importance of Islam’s influence on formative and current American culture almost as if he’s attempting to become a neo-historian and re-write American history. This is not the first, nor will it be the last where Obama overemphasizes or embellishes Islam’s contributions to America. Where are the church-state separatists calling “foul” on this one? Not a one is to be heard, because their message isn’t one of separation of church and state, it’s simply a disguised and cloaked anti-Christian sentiment.

Here’s a link of the Forbes article for you to read for yourself. It’s enlightening and a must read. More than even Christians must act, pray, and respond. American Christians can no longer afford to be apathetic toward or removed from the national political arena – it is ours to engage. Don’t be quite anymore. Your children’s future is at stake.
