Homework Day Five (Matthew 28:16-20)

Prayer-circleHere’s my homework for day five:

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20

1) What do I find out about God and my relationship with Him?

God does a couple of things here. He not only invites me to participate in His mission, He includes me in it. This mission is about a going. It requires me to step beyond my limited perspective and to embrace His.

2) What do I find out about others and my relationship with them?

I’m instructed to be a disciple maker and an ambassador for the gospel. There’s an obligation to teach what Jesus has commanded me. Funny, I can’t explain what I don’t know. It’s so important to know Christ and what it means to follow Him. Who has God placed around me to disciple?

3) How am I to be and do?

Discipleship making requires going. It’s hard work, but it’s meaningful work. I’ve got to be intentional about investing, walking along side, teaching and helping others.

What have you learned?
