How Can I Neighbor Well?

The conversation is about better neighboring. Have you been thinking about how you might neighbor well? Here’s a list of neighboring suggestions – it’s the list I shared last week during my talks. These are just suggestions toward better neighboring. The premise here – better neighbors do something. What suggestions might you add to this short list?

•Share a pot of coffee

•Have a conversation

•Shovel someone’s walkway in the winter

•Mow a vacationing or ill neighbor’s yard

•Drive a friend to the airport

•Prepare and deliver a meal

•Bake and deliver a cake, pie or cookies

•Tutor a child

•Sit with a homebound adult

•Provide transportation to the doctor

•Provide transportation to school

•Offer to babysit

•Pick up a neighbors mail and/or paper while on vacation

•Walk a dog

•Place the trash container by the curb

•Place a delivered newspaper on the porch

•Deliver flowers when someone is sick

•Send a note, email or message

•Gift card for a birthday

•Plan, attend and/or participate in a block party

•Accept a neighbor’s invitation

•Grill out and invite someone over

•Invite others to enjoy s’mores in the winter or ice-cream in the summer
