iServe was huge to me! We’ve done a lot of stuff over the past several years – good stuff. But, when 1,227 people decided to give up their weekend to serve out in community, I was blown away. The stories that are coming out from the weekend are incredible. Truly it is more blessed to give than receive.
Then, many of you came back Sunday afternoon to celebrate and break bread together. I loved the service, the stories, the cardboard statements, the music and the singing. A passion lived out of service filled the room. To God be the glory!
Thank you Bryan, Shane and Brenda for your leadership. You pulled off an amazing feat. Thank you Team Captains and to our Missions Team. We applaud you! I’m blessed to work with some of the best!
So, what’s my takeaway? We can’t let this be a one-time deal. iServe is more than a weekend, it’s the drive of a missional life. Your eyes have been opened to ways in which you can serve in and be connected to community. God is making a difference through you. Be the light and take to heart Matthew 5:16 which states, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Let your light shine in such a way that people see good works. It’s not about them seeing you, but noticing the good work. As others see the work, they’re drawn to give God glory. When your light shines, you’re giving God something to bless.
