Another Senseless School Shooting

Reynolds2This world is definitely a crazy place. It’s hard to understand these seemingly endless acts of violence. Today an Oregon high school student was shot and killed. It’s senseless; there’s no good reason. He went to school anticipating exams. Mother sent him to school expecting to see him again at the end of the day. This marks the 74th school shooting since December 2012. As I process this tragedy I’m reminded:

  • We live in a damaged world. That’s why we need Jesus.
  • There are hurting and anguished people around us.
  • Life is precious, fleeting and ends without sufficient notice. We ALL have an appointment with death, we just don’t know the date and time.
  • Life isn’t fair.
  • Relationships can be sweet. Make the most of every moment with the ones you love the most.
  • Don’t wish your life or circumstance away. Make the most of every opportunity.
  • Be light in the darkness as a Christ follower.

Pray for the families suffering tonight – the families of the victim and the assailant. Both are agonizing in an indescribable hurt.
