This week the Baptist General Association of Virginia affirmed a proposed governance model change for the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. It is time and it is right. I want to thank Dr. Jim Baucom (Columbia Baptist Church, Falls Church) for his leadership with the BGAV Governance Study Committee. The committee deserves kudos for their hard work in the development of this model. I also want to thank Carl Johnson for seeing this through on his watch as BGAV President. Great job! There are many Virginia Baptists (of which I am one) that believe in this governance change. I believe we’ll see a more proactive and effective body in the days ahead. You can read a copy of the study committee’s report here. Let’s be in prayer for the committee as they propose specific changes for adoption next year with possible implementation in 2015.
