Great Night at Cool Spring with Stop Hunger Now

What a great night! 300 people gathered in the Fellowship Hall to pack 30,000 meals with Stop Hunger Now. We packed all those meals in about an hour and a half. Great night, big accomplishment – making a difference. Every few seconds a child dies from hunger related causes. The mere provision of a meal could save a child’s life.

Our family left after the packing event tonight to catch a quick bite at Marty’s. We ran into some other Cool Springers. As I ate dinner, I considered the abundance we were experiencing – almost feeling uneasy. After dinner, we strolled down to Kroger and grabbed a few items for tomorrow. As I walked down the aisles and around the displays, I thought about all the available food. How many stomachs could we fill with all of this? There’s an entire section full of fresh vegetables and fruits. There’s a deli full of all kinds of meats and cheeses and then there’s the prepared food section – sandwiches, high end gourmet stuff, and don’t forget the sushi. I think we take the availability of food for granted. In a place of much, we bear an incredible responsibility and opportunity to help those with less. We’re called to do good. I think God honors both the willingness and the actions to make a difference. Tonight, we gave thousands of people hope and something to ease their hunger.
