Freedom. This weekend we pause to reflect on its reality. We live in a country where personal freedoms are valued. The cost is staggering; its path unlike any other. You know, experience, live, and practice freedom because of the work of another. Courageous men and women stood against tyranny and despotism. You celebrate freedom at the cost of another’s blood. We have what we have because someone else sacrificed. While soldiers shed their blood for an earthly and temporary freedom, there’s another named Jesus who willingly shed His blood upon a cross to purchase an eternal freedom for you. Real freedom is discovered, lived, experienced, and realized in Jesus. As you know Him, you know and live both freedom and peace. As you celebrate the 4th this weekend – celebrate the freedom you have in Jesus Christ.
