When Will Someone Say NO?!?

I just read where the Boston Globe is reporting Senate Democrats just released a $1.3 trillion dollar spending bill. Included in the bill are an enormous number of earmark spending projects. The nearly two thousand pages combine multiple unfunded and under supported projects that did not see the light of day earlier this year. For example, embedded in this bill is an $8 million dollar contribution toward the Edward Kennedy Institute, which is being primarily funded through the private sector. Is this a national priority – a must spend budget item? If the Senator who proposed this expenditure wasn’t voted out in the last election, take down his or her name so you’ll remember to vote for the opposition next time they come up for re-election.

Has everyone in Washington lost his or her mind? Which part of broke don’t they get? Have they all gone mad? Why can’t someone simply say NO?!? Take their credit cards and printing presses away – Hurry, Hurry, Hurry, before it’s too late! Ignorance may be bliss, but stupidity is contagious in Washington. At this rate, I’m not sure we’ll be solvent in two years when the next election rolls around.

Why are our elected leaders bent on destroying this nation through financial ruin? We must quit spending and secure a reasonable and equitable revenue base for our nation. Government cannot meet all the wants of her constituency. She can not fund every dream or pay everyone’s mortgage! Government will never be one’s savior; they’ll never have all the answers. At some point, personal responsibility must check in and rule the day. Church, you have a leading role intervening in society’s ills. Individual, you have a responsibility to volunteer, give, and support. People must quit looking for handouts and start looking for what they can contribute. And Washington must quit spending!
