The Hypocrisy Outside the Church and Dr. Laura Schlessinger

Okay, I’ll wade into the deep end for a moment. I don’t usually do this, but I feel I must. I’m really offended by this recent display of hypocrisy outside the church. I’m offended by the behavior of the “promoted” double standard. Let’s me clarify. I’m disturbed by Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s recent “firing” or “retirement” from radio. I’ve listened to the broadcast in its entirety and context. Why is it that some “people” are allowed to say the “N” word and others are not? It’s okay for one, but not another and permission to articulate it is granted based upon the color of your skin. Talk about a double standard! Get real! Grow up! It’s hypocrisy – plain and simple! For the good doctor to lose her job over a six-minute discussion is not only ludicrous, but it borders on insanity. This whole argument isn’t about a “double-standard word,” it’s about validating hypocrisy. Since when do real Americans wear their feeling on their sleeves? Honestly, I’m tired of certain famer’s showing up for photo and camera opportunities to take advantage of the situation. The caller who initiated the discussion ought to be ashamed of herself for bringing this topic up in the first place! Where is she in all this? Hiding behind the cloak of radio. Grow up, people!

I’m not a Dr. Laura Schlessinger supporter and I rarely listen to her broadcast. I did buy one of her books some time ago about stupid things men do. From what I gather, she pretty much takes a no nonsense conservative approach and bias to things. If people don’t like it, don’t listen to it. Maybe some people just need to grow up!

One more rant since we’re on the subject. My daughter worked Sky Ranch this summer in Van, Texas. She served as a counselor for five and six year olds. One particular week last month, Angel Tree (Prison Fellowship) sponsors a camp for children of prisoners at Sky Ranch simultaneously while the “regular” camp is in session. Apparently, Katey let some of the five and six year olds in her group play with a couple of five and six year olds in the Angel Tree Camp. Unbeknownst to her, this was a camp violation and she got caught on film. A parent of one of the “regular” campers went online to view pictures of her child having fun at camp only to discover (to her self-proclaimed horror) that her child was playing with a child of color. She was upset enough; she called the camp to complain that her child was playing with a child of another ethnicticity. That’s right, a white child was caught on film being friends with a black child. You’ve got to be kidding me! Where did this mother come from? Can I say it again? Grow up, people!

Why do we have to use color to judge or determine the worth or value of another? We need to get over this whole race thing. We need to free ourselves from this pseudo sanctioned hypocrisy! Grow up, people!

7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
