“Ogres are like onions,” states Shrek states in an attempt to illustrate the “depth” of an Ogre to Donkey. I’m convinced that people (just like us) are like onions, too. In order to really get to know someone; you “earn” them a layer at a time. You don’t discover the core, until you’ve peeled back the layers. Removing layers takes time and most importantly requires trust. Trust is a necessity in a real relationship. Unfortunately, we’re not always willing to invest that time required to nurture a relationship. Here’s some advice, take the time. We all need relationships. Different relationships develop to varying levels of intimacy. Not everyone is going to be your best friend. You only need a few of those, but you need them. Who are you going to risk a friendship with today?
